Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Dowdle Insiders, here’s some BIG news!

I want you to be the first to know that, starting today, my Dowdle Puzzles are in select Costco stores nationwide for the next three weeks! You’ll see several brand new titles. These are titles that YOU helped bring to market through your responses to my customer surveys. The new titles include images for New York, Hong Kong, and three brand new Halloween-themed puzzles just to name a few! If you’re familiar with Dowdle Puzzles, you’ll know that this is a great time to stock up on choice titles at Costco prices.

Plus, I’m now offering my puzzles in a premium two-pack making it easier to join the tradition of Dowdle Puzzles. So, look for Dowdle Puzzles on your next trip to Costco and spread the word. You can also contact your local Costco store and reference item #582065 or Americana Art Enterprises to see if your store is carrying them now.

Let me know what you think of the new titles, and thanks for being a loyal Dowdle Puzzles fan.

Sincerely,
Eric Dowdle

Costco Event - I was so excited to hear about puzzles coming back to Costco.  I called my local store and gave them the item # and they said that they are supposed to have them starting July 12th but they haven't shown up yet!  Since they are late in arriving, I hope that they stay a whole 3 weeks after they get there, and not just 3 weeks from July 12th. I was ready to run out and buy 10 today.  Hope they get their shipment soon!  If you have additional info about the delay please let me know! Thanks!  Kathy Lucero

right on - I hope my Costco in Sand City or Salinas, CA will be carrying your puzzles!  That is how I was introduced to your product.  I love them!

Will be there any time. - Hey Kathy, that is frustrating. The actual in date is today so the puzzles should be there sometime today or tomorrow. So keep checking back with store. Thanks for you patience.

New Flying School puzzle is GREAT! - The new Flying School puzzle reminds me of Harry Potter—like they're training for a Quidditch match.

puzzle size - Thank you - looking forward to doing some. I am a touch disappointed there are so few 1000 piece puzzles. Is there a reason?

Order problems - Last Christmas time a Costco on Oahu, Hawaii had your puzzles.  My daughter bought them for my Christmas present and I think they are the best but the Costco on the island of Hawaii at Kailua -Kona where I live did not have them.  In the meantime I ordered several puzzles via my computer which took two months to get here.  In the meantime I have tried twice to order more puzzles on the computer but I can't seem to get the order completed.  Maybe I am just stupid but I sure would like some more of your puzzles.  Norma Myers

Destination Puzzles - We love your destination puzzles so have decided to first do puzzles of all the places we have visited, both here in the US and abroad.  When we have completed your available puzzles destinations (where we have lived or visited) we plan to branch out and work on others.

Twofer puzzles at Costco - Greetings!!

I was so pleased to get your email about your latest offerings, available at Costco in a two-for-one-price.  I assumed it would be like prior offerings, where I get to pick them.  I LOVE the new fall-themed puzzles, but did not purchase any, since this time the selections are pre-paired.  :(  I already own or did not want the "other" puzzle in each case.  I hope that you will be able to offer them again in a "you pick the pair" format as before.

Calgary Puzzle - Hi Eric,
My son Daniel and I met you at the Stampede grounds while you were in Calgary.  Wondering if the Calgary puzzle is available in the Calgary Costco stores?
Let us know as would like to pick one up!
Thanks,
Annette

Costco Puzzles! - Yay!!! The puzzles did show up at Costco!  As promised, I  bought a bunch!  One thing that I thought was bad was they were pre-packaged as two-packs.  In order for me to get one that I wanted I had to buy a two-pack and I already had the other puzzle.  Last year at Costco, you still had to buy two at a time, but you could pick and choose which two.  I now have a couple duplicates.  Not the end of the world, but last years way was better!  Thanks for selling at Costco! Love it! - Kathy Lucero

minor complaint - In a whim I bought the 2pack of New York and Niagara Falls, 500 piece puzzles. My family had a day of pure pleasure assembling the Niagara Falls puzzle. The odd shaped pieces were delightful. The quality of the puzzle was excellent, the pieces held together perfectly.

We moved on to the New York puzzle, expecting the same satisfaction, only to discover the puzzle pieces were the same, boring, cheap rectangular grid kind, loose fitting, easily separated. What a letdown, let me tell you.

The artwork was fantastic in both cases. But the quality of the puzzles was different.

The boxes had no indication of which quality level the puzzle contained. I'd like to know before I buy next time. I did note that

Niagara Falls -- Made in USA (top quality)
New York -- Made in China (unimpressive quality).

Perhaps the production process is what matters.

- We noticed the same production process flaws with the Rodeo Days (made in China) and the Flying School (made in the USA).  We thought someone had previously opened the Rodeo Days puzzle since it was poorly packaged and appeared "used" rather then the higher quality of the USA made Flying School.  However, both boxes state they were "made in China", so is it just the slip on cover for the Flying School that is made in the USA? Or is something else made in the USA since the box clearly states it was made in China?

Please advise before I drive back to Costco (an hour away) to buy more puzzles.  I will buy the puzzles made in the USA but nothing made in China which is inferior production quality.  Love these puzzles, however, they need to be high quality rather than the poor quality of the "made in China" puzzles.  Thanks.

A little upset - I bought a 1,000 piece puzzle of Noah's Ark at Costco for Christmas and have just completed it. I had intended to frame it but it is missing 2 pieces. What now? It's not much good to me missing pieces.
