In 1840, newlyweds Hiram and Sarah Kimball moved into an already-existing frame home in Nauvoo. Sarah was an affluent young woman who opened this beautiful home for social and religious gatherings. Two years after moving into her home, she organized a ladies society that became known as The Relief Society. Sarah was a strong-minded woman who believed in the worth and dignity of all women. She served as a ward Relief Society President in Salt Lake City for forty years, and was the first president of the Utah Suffrage Association.
