The Seventies Hall was built in 1844 and served as the Church headquarters. General offices and a school were located there, and it hosted lectures, worship services, a library and a museum. Church members made great sacrifices to complete this building. They worked on the docks and were paid with lumber for construction, and they fired their own bricks. When they moved west, they took the
library’s books with them.
