Joseph Smith’s Red Brick Store was opened for business on January 5, 1842. A beehive of activity, the store became a hub of the community. In addition to offering household and farming necessities, it served other financial capacities: to give loans, accept temple contributions, collect tithes, and renew Times and Seasons subscriptions. You could even purchase a city lot at the store!
