The Ohio State Buckeyes

 

Nestled against the backdrop of the Columbus skyline, Eric has portrayed an exciting game day in historic Ohio Stadium. The Ohio State Buckeyes football team has one of the more unique mascots—the buckeye, a small, shiny, dark brown nut with a light tan—but the Buckeyes more than make up for it with a claim to seven national championships along with 36 conference championships and ten undefeated seasons. Go Buckeyes!

University of Oregon Ducks by Eric Dowdle

 

The University of Oregon, located in Eugene, is well-known for their great football team and fanatic fans. Eric has captured all of the excitement of the Oregon Ducks in action in Autzen Stadium. Depicted at dusk and framed by fall foliage, you can almost feel the crispness in the air in this dynamic painting that showcases collegiate football at it's best.

Eric loves great architecture, and he found a boatload of it on his visit to Galveston doing research for this painting. Galveston is a unique island city located in the gulf of Mexico. Known for for being a popular cruise ship port, this vibrant and resilient city is full of energy. Pleasure Pier in the foreground of this painting is a favorite destination for tourists, as it is full of shopping and dining experiences.

If you have ever been to the area, you can appreciate how Eric has used his unique folk art style to "fit in" all of the memorable sights from this vacation paradise. Yes, once Eric visited this area, he couldn't help but include it all—from the fun of downtown Cancun, to the Riviera Maya, to the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza and Tulum.
